Remember When This Happened?

Check out the forthcoming issue of USARS Magazine for this article. You can clip it out and hang it over your Roller Dames shrine!

Sotheby’s and Spaghetti Tonight

Join us tonight for a fundraising dinner-sale-silent auction extravaganza, as if you needed a noble reason to come let the Roller Dames serve you noodles.

Here’s the scoop (ha haaa, serving joke!): Emily Evans, Roller Dames’ newby, Whittier Elementary art teacher, tattoo arteest and all-around awesome lady, was recently diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia. She’ll be hospitalized for a month or more while she receives and recovers from a bone marrow transplant. Tonight’s fundraiser will help defray her medical costs and personal expenses while she is being treated.

I can't wait to get this gal back on her skates!

Dinner will be tonight from 5-7 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5200 Glenn Ave, Sioux City. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students. The silent auction will feature the art of Steven Hall Sr., Amy Foltz, John Bowitz and Lynn Johnson, and the bake sale will feature baked goods by the Sioux City Roller Dames (in addition to the work of other, more qualified bakers). I hope to see everyone there!

Dames Volunteering at CMN fundraiser

Do you want to talk to a real, live Roller Dame? Well now you can! Just have your checkbook or major credit card ready and give us a call while we are answering phones at the Children’s Miracle Network radiothon (sic).

Saint Luke’s Hospital raises thousands of dollars every year, which they use to improve children’s healthcare right here in Siouxland. Donations will help to purchase specialized equipment, improve facilities and fund family health education programs.

The radiothon (sic) will run from 6 am to 6 pm on October 5, 6 and 7 and will be broadcast live on KG95, Z98 and KISS 107.1. The Dames will be answering your calls on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, between 4 and 6. If you call and fail to reach one of the Dames, just call again and keep making donations until one of us picks up. Philanthropy is sexy!

Rich Martin Memorial Benefit on Saturday

Richard Martin, drummer for WeLiveInSodHouses, died tragically in a car accident on August 30 of this year. His death left a hole in his band, his family, his friends and left his daughters without a daddy. Rich’s friends and family have organized a memorial benefit, the proceeds of which will go to his daughters.

The benefit will be held on Saturday, October 2 from noon to 2 am at The Chesterfield in Sioux City. There will be a $5 cover charge and another $5 donation for dinner. There will also be music, a silent auction and commemorative t-shirts.

The Sioux City Roller Dames will be at the benefit signing pictures and meeting people from 5:00 on. We all love SodHouses’  song “I Want a Girl in Rollerskates”, which can be found on WeLiveInSodHouses‘ Facebook page. We’d love to see all of our fans out on Saturday night to support this worthy cause.
